The Story:
There’s a treasure trove of tall tales surrounding this elusive cocktail, many involving wives or girlfriends named ‘Margarita’. Indeed the name was notably popular in America in the 1930s and 40s. What we do confidently know is that ‘Margarita’ is the Spanish word for Daisy, and Daisy was a category of cocktails, popular in the early 20th century, consisting of a base spirit, liqueur and citrus element.
The Serve:
Ready to Shake.
Pour into a shaker with ice and shake vigorously. Lightly salt the outside rim of your glass with a lime wedge if you choose. Strain into a chilled glass.
