1 real bride's MYKONOS HEN DO MAGIC

We spoke to Real Bride Kash about her non-stop Mykonos hen. Take inspiration from the fun themes and dreamy details.
1. Tell us about YOU; who are you, where do you live and what do you do?
My name is Kash, I am a 28 year old living in-between Devon and London, but I’m a city girl at heart.
2. When and where did you get married?
We’re getting married at the end of June in the Douro Valley, Portugal. It’s a beautiful wine region located in the north of the country with rolling hills and lots of vineyards. Our venue is a hotel set right on the Douro River, we fell in love with its breathtaking water views.
3. Tell us about your Bachelorette? Where did you go? Who did you go with?
Twelve of my closest friends and I went to Mykonos, Greece for a long weekend. It was non-stop from the moment we landed, hectic and so so fun. The whole thing felt like a dream.

4. Did you have a theme, what was the vibe, how did you choose the aesthetic?
There wasn’t one overarching theme, but each evening the girls had their own dress code / vibe. I have three amazing maids of honour: Payge, Tash, and Maddie, who designed the most incredible brochure for the trip. It included everything from the itinerary and flight info to a guest list and, most importantly, the outfit themes for each night, complete with moodboards.

The themes were:
Margs & Matrimony
Sunset Squad
Mermaids in Mykonos
5. What did you wear? (We want all the details...)
I had so much fun planning my outfits, it almost became my whole personality. I wore a mix of vintage / second-hand finds, custom pieces, and high street.

Airport Outfit
Shorts: Pixie and Peach - I love the little “Love Struck” detail on the front, so cute.
Top: Skims - so comfy.
Pink Sweatshirt: Zara.

Day 1 (Poolside arrival vibes)
Shirt: Ego
Bikini: Vinted.

Evening 1 - Margs & Matrimony
Dress: A fully beaded custom piece by Timare Lagos. It was such a fun process designing it with her, and the sparkle was unreal.

Boat Day
Bikini: Gigi & Olive x Away That Day
Short Cover-up: Vinted
Long Cover-up: Zara
Cap: Gigi & Olive

Evening 2 - Sunset Squad
Dress: An Oxfam bridal find from when the store was based in Kingston. I had it tailored into a mini.
Shell-detail Wedges: New Look

Day 3 (Mykonos town)
Personalised Top: Gigi & Olive
Trousers: Revolve
Hat: New Look
Bag: Thrifted in Paris
Belt: Vinted

Evening 3 - Mermaids in Mykonos
Corset: PrettyLittleThing
Skirt: Cult Mia
Most of my jewellery was thrifted, either from charity shops or Vinted.
6. How involved were you in the organisation? (Type A Bride or did you let your MOH take charge?)
I was not involved at all! When I first got engaged, I assumed I’d plan my own hen, but my best friends scoffed at the suggestion. So I handed over the baton, and from that moment on, I had nothing to do with it. I only found out the location about a month before, and I didn’t see the itinerary until we were all settled into our villa.
I'm so glad they took charge. I could never have pulled it off as well as they did. It perfection - fun, thoughtful, and so me.
7. What was your most expensive purchase? Was it worth it?
My custom Timare Lagos dress! It was worth every penny. The craftsmanship is amazing, and I still can’t believe it was all hand-beaded.

8. What was your best budget purchase?
I honestly have so many! I found so many pieces on Vinted in the lead-up to my hen, I was actually addicted to the app. A lot of them were even brand new. But my favourite has to be the outfit I wore on the sunset night. I stumbled across it in a charity shop over a year ago and knew I had to get it for my bridal wardrobe.
9. Did you do anything special for your group that you would recommend to other Brides?
I put together tote bags for each of the girls filled with little bits they could use during the weekend and afterwards. I also wrote each of them a thank you note. It meant so much to me that they took time off and flew to Greece just to celebrate with me, and I wanted to express that!
10. Anything you would change?
Not a thing.
11. What are your 3 top tips to other brides planning their Bach?
1. Trust your friends.

I was so set on planning my hen myself at the beginning, but I’m so glad I didn’t. If you have friends who are willing (and have the time!) to plan it for you, consider letting them. Whilst you’re focussed on wedding planning, your maid of honour/bridesmaids/friends can deal with the hen!

2. Leave at least a month between your hen and your wedding.

I left Mykonos with a full heart, a bit of a hangover, and about 20 bruises. Definitely give yourself a few weeks before the wedding to recover and rest.

3. Be present.

Having all my friends together in the sun was genuinely one of the best weekends ever. I made sure to put all the wedding admin and to-do lists aside to fully be in the moment.
