11 Content Creator Tips Every Bride Should Save

The raw clips landing in your inbox the morning after. The little moments you didn't even realise had happened. The footage you'll watch on repeat on your honeymoon.

Wedding content creators have quickly become one of the most asked about bookings of the season, so we asked three of our favourites on The Directory, Contently Wed, 692 Moments and Content by Matt, for the advice they wish every Bride had before she enquires. Screenshot this one.

1. Enquire the moment your venue is confirmed

12 to 18 months out is the sweet spot. "The best content creators only take on a limited number of weddings each year," explains Lauren at 692 Moments, who is already taking bookings into 2028. Getting married abroad? Content by Matt is now seeing destination enquiries closer to two years ahead.

2. Don't bank on a quieter date

"I feel like every date carries demand these days, not just the traditional summer weekends," says Lauren at 692 Moments. That said, Matt at Content by Matt has taken bookings just weeks before a wedding, so never assume you've left it too late.

3. Look beyond the highlight reel

"Social media is a highlight reel by nature," says Matt at Content by Matt, so ask to see how someone captures a whole wedding, not just their strongest 15 seconds. Lauren at 692 Moments looks for consistency: do their editing, pacing and framing feel the same across different weddings? That's the sign of a real creative style.

4. Match their style to the feel of your day

The biggest mistake Contently Wed sees is booking someone purely because you like their work. "A luxury, editorial wedding will naturally call for a different approach to a relaxed, documentary style celebration." Think about how you want to feel looking back on it years from now.

5. Have a video call before you book

Or, as Matt at Content by Matt puts it, "HAVE A VIDEO CALL WITH YOUR SUPPLIERS!!!" You'll spend more of your day with your creative team than almost anyone else. "Trust and ease matter just as much as the portfolio itself," agrees Lauren at 692 Moments.

6. Know exactly what you're booking

A content creator isn't a traditional videographer. Matt at Content by Matt shoots mostly on iPhone, with camcorder and drone depending on the collection, all about immediacy and emotion. If you want a full length film or every speech recorded, that's a different service. "There is absolutely room for both."

7. Ask what's included, then ask again

Contently Wed include everything upfront, travel and accommodation included, because "a luxury experience should feel seamless from the moment you enquire." Not everyone does. Lauren at 692 Moments suggests asking: what counts as an add on, when and how will I receive my content, is travel extra, and how many hours am I getting?

And don't judge on numbers alone. "Ten Reels aren't automatically better than three beautifully considered films," says Matt.

8. If you can, book all three

Photographer, videographer and content creator. "Speaking to Brides afterwards, the pattern I hear again and again is that they adored their photographer and videographer, but woke up the next day with nothing to actually look at," says Lauren at 692 Moments. Her raw content lands by 9am the next morning. Content by Matt delivers within 24 hours, and Contently Wed within 48.

9. Tell them the things they can't know

They'll capture the dress and the first kiss. What they need from you is the rest. "That your grandmother helped choose your dress, that your dad hasn't seen you in it yet, that four friends have flown across the world to be there," says Matt at Content by Matt. Contently Wed love hearing about your stationery and florals too, so they can be intentional about every detail.

10. Leave gaps in your timeline

"Some of my favourite footage comes from the spaces between the things you planned," says Matt at Content by Matt. Bridesmaids chatting before everyone gets dressed. Five quiet minutes together after the ceremony. Over schedule the day and those moments have nowhere to happen.

11. Then forget the camera is there

"Your wedding day isn't a photoshoot," say Contently Wed. "The most beautiful footage usually comes from those genuine moments when you've forgotten the camera is there." And if something goes wrong? "They almost always do, and they're rarely the part anyone remembers afterwards," says Lauren at 692 Moments.

The footage every Bride should have

For Contently Wed, it's the moment she sees herself as a Bride for the first time. In the mirror, as her veil goes on, just before she leaves for the ceremony.

Lauren at 692 Moments says it's never just one. "Your partner's reaction, a moment with your parents, your children running around, or a big embrace with a grandparent."

And for Matt at Content by Matt, it's the unedited, everyday moments. "Your mum watching you have your makeup done. Your dad waiting outside the ceremony. Your grandparents dancing. Flowers disappear, dresses get packed away and trends change. Being able to see the people you love move, laugh, speak and exist exactly as they were on that day is something I don't think you can put a value on."
