Pinterest’s 2026 Wedding Trend Report: The Year of Personal Expression

Couples aren’t just planning weddings anymore, they’re completely rewriting what they should look like. There is no longer a default aesthetic. The common thread running through this year’s biggest trends is that bold, expressive, and sometimes quirky touches are taking over, making way for weddings that feel unmistakably personal.

Pinterest’s 2026 Wedding Trend Report is drawn from over 7 billion wedding searches and 16.7 billion saved ideas globally and it tells a very clear story. Here’s all the trends we’re obsessed with that are defining weddings this year.

Rooted Romance
The soft, neutral palettes that dominated wedding aesthetics for years are making room for something richer. Plum, merlot, fig, and olive. Moody, nature-driven tones that feel romantic, warm and deeply personal, over what’s safe and expected.

Ethereal Shimmer
Opalescent and iridescent finishes are having a moment. Chrome finishings on modern tablescapes have been hugely popular, as well as pastel sheen bridesmaid dresses and jewel-toned bridal details. This trend is the wedding world’s take on all things whimsy.

Messy Coquette
Messy Coquette is another example of the move away from polished neutral aesthetics. Defined by draped fabrics, lace, velvet and stained glass, it’s the kind of décor that feels very vintage and like it tumbled straight out of a fairy tale. The perfect aesthetic for couples who love texture, who notice detail, and who want their wedding to feel like a whole world entirely of its own.

Unexpected Venues
For modern Brides, there has always been something to be said for a venue that does the talking, a space that frames the whole celebration, but the 2026 version of that is all about the unexpected. Speakeasy-inspired spaces for post-reception parties, alpine weddings with ceremonies on the slopes, welcome parties on tennis courts and bold architectural spaces that don’t look like wedding venues at all. Couples this year are drawn to spaces that feel transportive, immersive and instantly photogenic. The venue is no longer just a backdrop. It’s part of the couple’s story.

Quirky Cakes
The fondant-covered, five-tier cake is giving way to something more fun. Nostalgic, kitsch, playful and a little surreal, wedding cakes in 2026 are conversation pieces. The cake, it turns out, is one of the easiest places on the day to inject real personality.

Sensory Styling
Weddings are becoming a full sensory experience. Flower bars where guests choose their own blooms and produce stations where guests pick their own favours have featured in welcome parties and cocktail hours, alongside perfume stations that make the occasion feel truly interactive.
On the other side of that coin, fragrant tablescapes with herb and citrus centrepieces make the room smell as beautiful as it looks. A natural development from the fruit as décor trend that swept 2025 weddings. This is about creating moments that appease as many senses as possible.

Analogue Activities & Keepsakes
In a world of screens, couples are leaning into the tactile. Personalised keepsakes, handwritten details, favours that encourage real interaction. Details we love here at Gigi & Olive. We have worked on some fun events where the favour has been hand-engraved mirrors that guests take away on the day, or custom embroidered gifts. Something to hold and to keep that still exists long after the day has ended. One for the most sentimental couples.

Nostalgic Tech Touches
Stemming from the same desire for the analogue, projectors displaying special moments, favourite films or custom signage have taken centre stage this year. Camcorders passed between guests, and many couples now viewing super 8 and film add-ons as a necessary part of their photography packages. Lo-fi, sentimental and deliberately imperfect, this trend is a direct opposition to the polished aesthetic that has dominated wedding content for years.

Alt Bouquets
The traditional round bouquet is being reimagined in a similar fashion to cakes in their quirky era. Cascading orchids, hoop bouquets with trailing ribbons and pearls replacing stems. Floristry in 2026 is expressive, architectural and very personal. More and more brides are treating it like the statement piece it is.

The Headwear Era
Perhaps the trend we’re most excited about. Bridal style in 2026 is less about the dress alone and more about the full picture. Pearl-encrusted headpieces, wide-brimmed hats, crowns, caps, cool-girl veils worn in unexpected ways. Accessories are taking centre stage and we couldn’t be more excited.

The Bigger Picture
The most memorable weddings of 2026 will have one thing in common. They will feel like the people who planned them. Full of details chosen with self-expression at the forefront and suppliers who truly understood the couple.

Whether you’re drawn to the moody richness of Rooted Romance or the shimmer of an iridescent tablescape, these are our favourite 2026 wedding trends - what are yours?
