Birdsall House and Estate is a private, family-owned property nestled in the heart of the North Yorkshire countryside. Home to the Willoughby family for nearly 500 years, it offers a rare blend of history, warmth and exclusivity.
It’s beautifully layered rather than grand for the sake of it and it is full of character, history and elegance that never feels overwhelming. Birdsall hosts only a small number of weddings each year, ensuring every celebration feels considered and unhurried.
One of Birdsall’s greatest joys is its flexibility. Because it is a home first, it offers a wonderfully varied backdrop for a wedding day that can unfold naturally. You might choose to marry in the temple, among the ruins, or in the light-filled Georgian ballroom. As the day moves on, celebrations can drift into the newly renovated subterranean speakeasy - The Old Kitchens - or spill out into the magnificent gardens, inspired by Capability Brown.
There’s no single way to experience Birdsall and that’s exactly the point. It quietly adapts around you, allowing each wedding to feel relaxed, personal, and entirely its own.
