Bon Bridé has done the opposite.
To mark seven years of designing bridalwear, the London label's SS27 collection, SEVÉN, is a celebration of everything that usually happens behind closed doors. The sketches, the pattern cutting, the calico toiles scribbled with pencil notes, the fittings, the second and third samples. As the team put it, "Rather than hiding the process, SEVÉN brings it to the forefront."
And the lookbook reads exactly like that. Handwritten annotations sit next to finished looks. Arrows point to boning channels, hitch details and "keep the drape clean". Pins, tape and blue thread are left in shot. It feels less like a campaign and more like being handed the atelier's sketchbook.
Four fabrics, four chapters
Each look in SEVÉN represents a different moment in the making of a bridal gown, and the fabrics tell that story.
Calico is where every dress begins. Rather than hiding the toile stage, Bon Bridé has kept it, pencil markings, balance points and construction lines included. The showstopper here is bb:134, a silk taffeta corseted asymmetric gown with a detachable full skirt in calico (or poly taffeta, if you would rather). It is dramatic, sculptural and completely unlike anything else we have seen this season.
Denim is the surprise. Structured denim explores the foundations of couture, showing shape and silhouette in a material you would never expect to see on a Bride. For the Bride who wants her look to feel like hers and nobody else's, this is the chapter to pay attention to.
Silk taffeta is the moment a design starts to find its final form. Think bb:131, a silk taffeta tulip gown, worn over bb:90/B, a blush tulle under skirt, for a softer, more romantic take on volume.
Lace is the finished expression of the journey. Refined, romantic and timeless. bb:107/A is a lace drape gown with an internal structured corset and train, and it is one of the prettiest pieces in the whole collection.

bb:77/A, the Grace Gown. Bon Bridé's bestseller returns in a beautiful soft lace with a detachable hip clutch detail. If it is already on your moodboard, you are in very good company.
bb:125. A clean column gown in Mikado with a caged hip, shown with a sweetheart, cupped neckline. Pair it with bb:105, the voluminous detachable over skirt, and you have two looks in one. Ceremony to dancefloor, sorted.
bb:126. A sculpted bodice gown with a draped silk satin skirt. Minimal, elegant and perfect for a city ceremony.
